2012 Ford C-Max for U.S. to compete with the mazda 5

Just in time for the redesigned Mazda5 comes Ford’s new C-Max, a people mover whose second generation just hit the streets in Europe. In line with the automaker’s globalized product lineup, the C-Max will be sold for the first time in the U.S. Ford representatives wouldn't comment on an on sale date but it will likely be in 2011.

Base engine is a proven 2.5-liter iVCT I-4, optimized for small crossover application with plenty of low-end torque. Both engines are mated to Ford’s 6F35 automatic six-speed transmission with a gear ratio span allowing for responsive acceleration from rest yet fuel efficiency for around-town driving and steady cruising at speed.

2012 Ford C-MAX engine options for North American buyers will have a base 2.5-liter four-pot and all-new 1.6-liter turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, both with the Ford 6F35 six-speed automatic transmission, Ford still isn't ready to discuss market timing or pricing, but the Americanized C-Max is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of 2011 at the earliest, and will likely carry a base price just north of $20,000.
